How we verify every programme
Admission decisions are too important for guesswork. These are the rules every record on StudyGate follows.
1. Official university pages only
We take requirements only from the university’s own website and the official PDFs it publishes there, such as admission regulations (and, for scholarships, from the funder’s own site). Agents, blogs, forums, rankings and third-party course directories are never used as a source.
2. Every fact has a quote, a link and a date
Each fact (for example tuition, duration, IELTS score or deadline) is stored with three things:
- the exact words from the official page, copied word for word,
- the link to that page,
- the date we checked it.
Example: Tuition · quote from the university’s programme page · link · checked 2026-10-22
If the page does not state something, we show “Not stated officially” instead of filling the gap.
3. Fully vs Partly verified
1996 programmes are on the site today: 916 Fully verified and 1080 Partly verified (counted from the published data, built 2026-10-28).
In short: Fully means every key field is backed by an official quote; Partly means some fields are still missing a quote. The details:
Every programme record shown as verified follows these checks. A programme card is Fully verified when every one of these items is ticked with an official quote:
- Institution
- City
- Programme
- Language of instruction
- Duration
- Tuition
- Language level
- Prior degree
- Deadline
- How to apply
- Minimum grade (if the university states one)
If one or more items still lack a quote, the card shows Partly verified and marks which items are missing, so you know exactly what to confirm with the university. A missing item (for example the minimum grade or the deadline) can still change whether you are eligible.
4. Re-checks after 30 days
A record is due for a re-check 30 days after its check date. Our re-check script fetches the official page again and tests every quote word for word; if the quoted words are still there, the check date is updated. Until then the card keeps its tag and shows its check date, so you can see how old the check is. The date each programme was last checked is shown in its details popup.
Weekly: an automatic re-check of every shown programme runs every Sunday. It fetches each official page again and tests every stored quote word for word. The Data freshness page shows when quotes were last re-checked.
5. When a source changes
If a re-check finds that a quote is no longer on the official page, or the page cannot be reached, the record goes into a review queue. If a quote has changed, the programme is hidden from the list until we re-verify it; if the site is only unreachable, it stays visible. If the programme title itself is no longer found, the programme is hidden until it has been checked again. We would rather show fewer programmes than an outdated requirement.
How to report an error
Open the programme, then tap Report an error in its details. This opens your own email app with the programme name already filled in; tell us what is wrong and, if you can, link the official page that shows it. We check the report against the official source before changing anything. StudyGate itself stores nothing you send.
6. Your profile stays on your device
Your profile (degree, grades, test scores) and checklist ticks are saved only in your own browser’s storage on your device. They are never sent to us. Like any website, the pages and fonts you load are requested from web servers. There is no sign-up, no account and no form that collects personal data.
7. No commissions
We take no money from universities, agents or consultants, and we earn nothing when you apply. Results are ordered by how well verified they are (Fully verified first, then the most quoted details, then the nearest open deadline), or by how well you match once you add your profile, never by who pays.
