Germany Master's application timeline (12 months)
Programmes do not share one calendar. Use this template, then insert the deadline from each programme page and work backwards. Checked 2026-10-22.
The plan
- Months 12–9: shortlist programmes, note each route (uni-assist, VPD or direct), language and subject rules; get transcripts, degree and HEC attestation.
- Months 8–3: language test, programme-specific documents, then submit. Allow for uni-assist processing before the deadline.
- Months 2–0: admission letter, blocked account or other proof of funds, visa file.

From 1 January 2025 the presumed annual requirement that must be paid into the blocked account when applying for a visa will increase to 992,00 Euros monthly or 11.904,00 Euros yearly. This increased amount applies to all visa applications submitted from 1 January 2025.

Frequently asked questions
When should I submit to uni-assist?
uni-assist recommends requesting a VPD ideally at least 8 weeks before the deadline, and says evaluation usually takes 4 to 6 weeks.
Can I upload documents after the deadline?
uni-assist says that if documents are missing or not uploaded in time, the requirements have not been met and it cannot forward the application.
Is a 12-month plan an official rule?
No. It is StudyGate's planning template. Your programme's deadlines decide the real dates.
What funding figure should I plan around?
€11,904 per year in a blocked account for visa applications from 1 January 2025, according to the German Embassy Islamabad.
